Martin Roy, ing. LEED Fellow

President

Co-funder of Martin Roy et Associés and president of the firm since 2006, Martin Roy is the team manager responsible for challenging and ambitious projects. Actively involved in the creativity process, he assumes responsibility for sustainable business development.

An accomplished leader in the sustainable building field with more than 35 years of solid experience and achievements, the mechanical engineer Martin Roy holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from l’École Polytechnique de Montréal. Awarded in 2007 with the Grand Prix d’excellence de l’Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec, the highest honour for Québec engineers, he is also the first Québec engineer on being awarded with the prestigious title of LEED Fellow in 2013. Yet again, he distinguished himself in 2015 after getting awarded of one of the most coveted prices in the construction industry, the Green Building Champion Award. His unwavering commitment towards the sustainable construction industry has led him to be part of different committees in CaGBC. He is also a member of the permanent committee of the National Energy Code of Canada for Buildings (NECB) as well as part of the experienced modeller list of the CaGBC. Highly coveted on many levels, Martin Roy is also a main instructor at the Centre de Formation en Développement Durable de l’Université Laval as well as at the Université du Québec à Chicoutimi. His involvement within the CSA Group allows him to make use of his professional experience and his expertise in developing energy efficiency standards.

Marc Vacquerie, Technician Sr – Electrical Design

Vice-president

Associate, co-founder and vice-president of Martin Roy et Associés since 2006, Marc Vacquerie combines his extensive expertise in electricity with the wealth of experience of the bioclimatic oriented engineer. This skilled professional, excellent manager, both rigorous and human, assists in maintaining Martin Roy et Associés leadership whose mission is to do «Engineering with a human dimension».

Marc Vacquerie holds a Technical Degree in electricity from l’Académie de Lille in France since 1978. He built his experience as an electrician on many construction sites and metallurgical plants all across Europe. In 1986, he settled in the province of Québec and shortly thereafter starts to work as an electro-technician as he held various positions such as project design and electro-technician commissioning. His strong entrepreneurial spirit has led him to assume greater responsibilities in the field of operations and project management in various consultant and engineering firms in the Montréal region. His wide range of skills allows him to be efficient in different control and electrical projects of all sizes both in the building as well as in the construction area. Since 1997, Marc has been working closely with Martin Roy on major projects with regard to sustainable development and energy-saving projects. This has been the continuation of a wonderful adventure ever since.

Alexandre Bouchard, ing. PA LEED C+CB

Partner, Principal Saguenay Office

Associate and director of the Saguenay office of Martin Roy et Associés, Alexandre Bouchard is responsible for the design at MRA while proactively contributing to the sustainable development of the company. Backed by his visionary spirit, Alexandre leads a young and dynamic team committed to make the world a better place.

Alexandre Bouchard holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from l’École Polytechnique de Montréal since 2008 in addition to obtaining a Postgraduate Certificate in Building Engineering from Concordia University in 2010. As a professional engineer, Alexandre serves as the President of the Saguenay-Lac-St-Jean Branch of the Canada Green Building Council (CaGBC). This LEED BD+C accredited professional (Design and construction) also acts as an accredited designer of the Canadian GeoExchange Coalition. He served as President of the Collaboratif Montréal du Living Building Challenge and he is also a former member of the Board of Directors, Québec Chapter of the CaGBC. This extraordinary contribution of his is also reflected in its commitment as a sustainable building instructor in various organizations.

André Legault, ing. LEED C+CB, ASHRAE Certified Building Energy Modelling Professional

Partner, Principal Quebec City Office

Associate and director of the Québec office of Martin Roy et Associés, André Legault is responsible for MRA’s building science department as well as leading a highly skilled energy modellers’ team. Always concerned for continuous innovation and efficiency, André only uses simulation tools which stand at the cutting edge of current technology.

Owner of a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Laval University since 2005, André Legault specializes in energy modelling and is recognized by ASHRAE as a Building Energy Modeling Professional (BEMP). He is part of the experienced modellers list of the CaGBC and his career path led him to work as an expert in energy across Canada. His involvement in the CSA Group allows him to use his experience and his expertise in the creation of energy efficiency standards.
