La Tohu

  • End date of the work: 2004
  • Location: Montréal, QC
  • Cost of construction: 12.5M$
  • Scope: Mechanical & Electrical design
  • Project description:

This flagship sustainable building project demonstrated that it is possible to construct buildings by putting ecological considerations first while respecting budgets and deadlines. More than a construction project, the integrated design process made it possible to redefine customer needs and adapt the building to them. La Tohu is the only modern performance hall in Quebec using natural ventilation. The integrated design and ingenuity of the designers made it possible to implement this concept using modern design tools and equipment. The use of passive solar heating, radiant heating, displacement ventilation, heat recovery and rainwater percolation systems are also part of the sustainable building elements of this project. The choice of materials and construction methods has kept construction costs among the lowest for this type of building while respecting a very short schedule.
